Derrick Morgan Injury: Tennessee Titans DE Out…

Aug 31, 2011 – Tennessee Titans defensive end Derrick Morgan was forced to undergo a procedure on his knee and will miss a few weeks as he recovers, according to head coach Mike Munchak. Morgan reportedly had his knee scope to repair some damage, but the news isn’t all bad and he’s expected to make a full recovery. The injury will, however, keep him out of action for the rest of the preseason and, perhaps, the first few weeks of the regular season.

SB Nation’s Music City Miracles took a look at the injury and its impact on the roster, which will need to be pared down to 53 before the season begins.

This also increases the chances that a guy like Pannel Eghboh will make the roster. The Titans were without three defensive ends in practice today, Morgan, Jason Jones and Jacob Ford, so the likelihood that all of those guys are ready to go week 1 is very thin.

Morgan had visited Dr. James Andrews, which is never good news and typically incites panic. However, if arthroscopic surgery is all that came of the meeting, it’s far from the worst news Tennessee fans could’ve received.

For more on Morgan’s injury and the Titans, head on over to Music City Miracles, where you can read about the mounting injury concerns in Tennesee.

Vikings At Titans: Longwell Dents Scoreboard For…

The Minnesota Vikings got on the board on the first drive of the second half against the Tennessee Titans, thanks to the most reliable kicker in the National Football League.

The Vikings started their first drive of the second half at their own 22-yard line, and promptly started moving the ball downfield, thanks in large part to running back Lorenzo Booker, who once again looked impressive. The Vikings even managed to push their way into the Titans’ red zone, but the drive stalled and Ryan Longwell hit one from 37 yards out to cut the Tennessee lead to 14-3.

Joe Webb started the second half at quarterback for the Vikings, but logic dictates that his evening is over with. We should be seeing Christian Ponder at quarterback for Minnesota going forward, with Rhett Bomar coming in to mop things up at the end.

The Vikings have just held the Titans to a three and out, so the Vikings will be getting the ball back with about eight minutes left in the third quarter of play. They currently trail 14-3 to the Tennessee Titans.

What are your opinions.

The Tennessee Titans have a 14-0 lead over the Minnesota Vikings at halftime of the first pre-season game at LP Field in Nashville.

Both Titans touchdowns came as a result of Minnesota turnovers. The first one came as a result of a Lorenzo Booker fumble. On the ensuing drive, Joe Webb threw an interception straight to Titans safety Jordan Babineaux that was returned into Minnesota territory. The Vikings appeared to have the Titans stopped on a third down play, but cornerback Marcus Sherels was called for pass interference on a ball that really wasn’t catchable, setting the Titans up on Minnesota’s doorstep.

On the next play, rookie running back Jamie Harper took it into the end zone from two yards out, and the Rob Bironas extra point gave the Titans a 14-0 lead.

The Vikings moved the ball a little bit on their last drive before halftime, but wound up punting it away, and the Titans took a knee.

Minnesota trails at halftime of their pre-season opener by a score of 14-0. We expect to see rookie Christian Ponder in at quarterback to begin the second half of play.

That’s all the news for today.

After going through the first quarter and most of the second quarter with no points, the Tennessee Titans have dented the scoreboard against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings appeared to be rolling on their third drive of the evening behind quarterback Joe Webb (who came in for Donovan McNabb after McNabb played the first two drives) and running back Lorenzo Booker. However, after getting into Tennessee territory, Booker put one on the turf, and it was recovered by the Titans.

The Titans struck one play later when their quarterback, Jake Locker, fumbled the snap, picked it up, and rolled out to the right. He then launched one towards Yamon Figurs, who was wide open after Minnesota cornerback Chris Cook got caught looking into the backfield after the botched snap. The play covered 45 yards, and gave the Titans a 7-0 lead after the Rob Bironas extra point.

The Vikings have just taken the ensuing kickoff, and will take over at their own 28-yard line with Webb behind center again.

Gotta run!.

Vikings at Titans: Teams Exchange Punts To Start…

Read More: vikings football, minnesota vikings football, titans football, tennessee titans football, 2011 minnesota vikings football, 2011 tennessee titans football, vikings at titans, vikings vs titans, Donovan McNabb (QB – MIN), Matt Hasselbeck (QB – TEN), Chris Kluwe (P – MIN), Joe Webb (QB – MIN), Christian Ponder (QB – MIN), Jake Locker (QB – TEN), Tennessee Titans, Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Vikings at Tennessee Titans, Aug 13, 2011 7:00 PM CDT

Both teams have had one possession thus far at LP Field in Nashville, but neither could get into the end zone as the game remains scoreless with just under five minutes remaining in the first quarter of play.

The Titans took control of the ball first, and drove all the way down to the Vikings’ 11-yard line. At that point, a bad exchange for new Tennessee Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck caused a loss of thirty. . .yes, that’s 3-0. . .yards, setting up third and 40 for the Titans. They had to settle for a punt.

The Vikings took over at their own six yard line, and for an offense that’s just getting going, the Vikings moved the ball pretty well. Donovan McNabb completed four of six passes for 21 yards, hitting four different receivers on the drive. However, the Vikings’ offense stalled at midfield, and Chris Kluwe punted it away to Tennessee.

With about four minutes remaining at halftime, the Titans and Vikings are tied at zero. The substitutions have already started, as the Titans have put rookie Jake Locker at quarterback in Hasselbeck’s place. One would think that we will see either Christian Ponder or Joe Webb when the Vikings’ defense next takes the field.

Vikings And Titans Kick Off Pre-Season In…

Aug 13, 2011 – Ladies and gentlemen, we once again have football.

On Saturday night in Nashville, the Minnesota Vikings will take on the Tennessee Titans in the first pre-season game of 2011 for both clubs. Obviously, there isn’t a whole lot of analyzing to be done for a pre-season game, but it will be great to see the purple and gold back on the field again.

From a Viking fan’s perspective, here is what to watch for during tonight’s action, which kicks off at 7:00 PM Central time on KARE-11.

1) Offensive Adjustments – The Minnesota Vikings are going through a lot of changes on offense. They have a new quarterback in Donovan McNabb, and a new guy charged with protecting his blind side in left tackle Charlie Johnson. The Vikings are also in the midst of installing new offensive coordinator’s Bill Musgrave’s system, and tonight will be our first chance to see how it looks.

We will also get a chance to see two of the four quarterbacks that were taken in the top of the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, as the Titans will get their first opportunity to showcase Jake Locker, who they selected with the eighth overall pick. Vikings fans will get their first look at young Christian Ponder, who the Vikings took at number 12 and would likely be their starter had we gotten a full off-season.

2) Secondary Is Primary – Outside of Antoine Winfield, the Vikings’ defensive secondary is in a bit of a state of flux. Cedric Griffin is, once again, on the comeback trail after tearing both of his ACLs in the span of ten months, and it remains to be seen which of the Vikings’ young corners. . .whether it’s Chris Cook, Asher Allen, or Brandon Burton. . .can step up into a nickel role for the team. The safeties are also a bit of a question mark, as the Vikings released incumbent starter Madieu Williams a couple of weeks ago, and we’ll see who the Vikings start at the safety position next to Husain Abdullah.

3) Everyone Remains Healthy – This is obviously the most important thing about the pre-season, and hopefully it can happen for the Vikings tonight, as well as through their next three pre-season contests.

The time to get our football fix is upon us, ladies and gentlemen. If you’re going to be watching the game, be sure to check out The Daily Norseman’s Game Thread for discussion with your fellow Vikings fans.
