| Terrell Owens Could Make Comeback With Tennessee… | |
Read More: Terrell Owens (WR – CIN), Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals Terrell Owens has had quite an interesting off-season as the All-Pro wide receiver went to Korea for knee surgery, pretended he retired during an interview with ESPN and was recently rushed to the hospital for reasons unbeknownst to the general public. After all of that, however, the Tennessee Titans are still considering adding Owens once he is healthy according to head coach Mike Munchak. Muchak did his local radio show earlier in the week and the topic of wide receivers was brought up in the wake of the season-ending injury to Kenny Britt just a few weeks ago. The Titans head coach revealed that he was interested in trading for Brandon Lloyd, which makes sense, and that the team’s next option might be to take a look at Owens.
As Pro Football Talk’s Michael David Smith notes, this apparently means that the 3-2 Titans are in win-now mode — a spot not many onlookers thought they might be through six weeks of an NFL season that didn’t look promising this summer. Running low on time today, i’ll be back tomorrow hopefully with some more news. Posted in titans-news | Comments Off

| David Climer: Tennessee Titans need Chris Johnson… | |
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Is CJ OK? Needless to say, something is missing. Chris Johnson is averaging 50 yards per game. He used to get that on one run. His 3.0-yard average per carry is barely half of his average in 2009, when he became only the sixth player in NFL history to run for 2,000 yards in a season. Amateur accountants are having a blast breaking down his rushing totals in relation to the $53.5 million windfall via his contract extension. Some suggest he is this season’s version of Albert Haynesworth — a player that got his big payday and is content to rest on past accomplishments. Continue reading at The Tennessean. | New QB, Stingy Defense Has Titans Off To 3-1 Start
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The Tennessee Titans have won three straight and are tied for the AFC’s best start. With the exception of a stumbling loss to open the season, it’s the kind of start new coach Mike Munchak expected. Munchak said Monday the Titans have positioned themselves back into the mix with their goal of winning the AFC South. He said the Titans are back on track and excited by the prospect. Few outside of Tennessee’s headquarters expected much from this team with the franchise starting over this season with a new coach, new coordinators and two new quarterbacks along with the NFL lockout for good measure. Now the Titans are 3-1, and even Chris Johnson finally is getting going with his first 100-yard rushing game after his contract holdout. Munchak said safety Chris Hope will need surgery on his broken left forearm and likely will be out four to six weeks. Hope was hurt early in the Titans’ win at Cleveland on Sunday, and that was his first start after missing two games with a shoulder he dislocated in the season opener. Jordan Babineaux replaced Hope and picked off a pass he returned 97 yards for a touchdown. Munchak said Monday that Hope will have surgery this week. A 10-year veteran, Hope is in the final year of his contract and earning $6.5 million. Tight end Craig Stevens likely will be limited with a rib injury, and starting left guard Leroy Harris will be limited after getting a knee and ankle caught up in a pile. | Titans Say They’ll Make Chris Johnson Highest Paid…
Read More: Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson continues his holdout from Tennessee Titans training camp in protest of his contract. He signed a five-year, $12 million deal in 2008 while blossoming into one of the league’s best running backs. That’s the problem — he’s working off of a deal that pays him significantly less than he’s worth. The two sides have been talking about a new deal but to this point it doesn’t sound like a breakthrough has occurred. The Titans, for their part, say they’re ready to make him the highest paid running back in the NFL. Titans GM Mike Reinfeldt talked with the Associated Press about the situation:
If Johnson feels he needs a new deal, his only leverage point is to hold out of camp and create a sense of urgency. We’ll see what the next step is but, for now, Johnson’s not in camp. Check out Music City Miracles for updates. That’s all for today. Posted in titans-news | Comments Off
